7 Executive Committee Patrick Alizon (Airbus) presented a vision for the AICC and its future directions (click here for this presentation). The Executive Committee then reviewed the initiatives from its last strategic planning exercise in 1995. The following issues were reviewed and discussed: subcommittees, projects, and meetings. The Executive Committee decided to (1) reduce the number of subcommittees, (2) undertake new initiatves related to development and management of CBT, and (3) retain the current practice of holding meetings three times a year. Independent Test Lab Subcommittee Bill McDonald (FlightSafety-Boeing) discussed the situation with each of the AICC Independent Tetst Labs. He proposed that the AICC look at new sites. He reported making contacts with a group in Kiev that might be used as a future testing lab. The voting members unanimously approved revisions to CMI-003 and CMI-008. The new revision for both documents will be version 1.4 He reported on the test suite to be developed by the ADL group. Their test suite will test for all the functions and levels of the AICC CMI Guidelines. It will eventually replace the test suite developed by Bill which only tests for minimal compliance. The ADL test suite should be available mid-2000. To accommodate the API solution in the AICC CMI Guidelines, Bill will provide a JavaScript add-on to his test suite for vendors whose systems are built to the API guidelines. Bill also demonstrated a sample WBT lesson that would be made available to vendors after filling out and sending a license agreement to the AICC Administrator. He proposed several revisions to CMI-001 that would become revision 3.0.2. These changes were discussed at length in the context of what the AICC's revision strategy should be. An on-line vote will be held in April once Jack has refined the revisions and members have had a chance to review them fully. Frank Farance (Farance, Inc.) reported on the Xavier Project, an initiative to provide OpenSource CMI code. Phil Dodds (ADL) described the first release of the SCORM [Shareable Courseware Object Reference Model] standard which is an attempt to integrate AICC's CMI guidelines with IMS metadata. Version 1.0 is now downloadable from www.adlnet.org. He verified that a test suite for this standard will be available mid-year 2000.
