TUESDAY – September 7

CMI Subcommittee

Jack Hyde (FlightSafety-Boeing) reported on ongoing CMI activities within ADL and the IEEE.  He presented a proposal for incorporating an API solution within the AICC CMI guidelines.  The subcommittee and voting membership formally approved this addition   to the web-based CMI guidelines.

 

Independent Test Lab Subcommittee

Bill McDonald (FlightSafety-Boeing) reported that Integrity Training's WBT Manager was certified as compliant with the AICC's CMI web-based guidelines.  The voting membership formally approved this certification in an on-line vote prior to the meeting.   He also reported that modifications to AGR-006 and AGR-010 were formally approved by the voting membership in an on-line vote prior to the meeting.  He led a discussion on the need to enhance the current CMI Test Suite software, especially given the need to have a test for an API solution.

 

Platform Subcommittee

Paul Russell (United) presented a series of recommendations to be contained in a new AGR relating to non-training computing functions.  The desire is to prepare an AGR that would be helpful to airlines training organizations in getting proper support software for their administrative needs and to be able to communicate effectively with organizations outside their company.  The recommendations were discussed and revised.   The new AGR will be submitted for an on-line vote prior to the next meeting.

 

Courseware Technology Subcommittee

Jerry Sparks (FAA) led a discussion on ways to test for compliance with AGR-009, Use of Icons in CBT.   Options for self-assessment to lab certification were discussed.  No course of action was determined at this time.   This discussion will be continued at the next meeting. 

 

Communications Subcommittee

Bjorn Volle (Bratthens) updated the subcommittee on recent activities, including an article in CAT magazine and his pending visit to Japan to address a consortium of companies wanting to establish standards for CBT.

 

How Eyetracking Can Improve Training Designs

Sandra Marshall (EyeTracking) presented the results of her studies which show how eyetracking technology can improve training and performance.


FRIDAY – September 10

 

Chairman's Report

Patrick Alizon (Airbus) has been appointed interim AICC Chair to replace Xavier Ziegler who passed away.  The AICC is in good financial health.  The AICC continues to look for ways to improve its service to the airlines.  In addition, the AICC is challenged by the attention it is receiving from the rest of the training world for its CMI guidelines. 

Future meetings include:   Feb 7 - 11 in Daytona Beach, Florida in conjunction with the annual RAA [Regional Airlines Association] meeting; May 1 - 5, 2000 in Frankfurt, the week before or after the WATS conference; and September 25 - 29 in Albequerque, New Mexico.

 

Smart Graphics Subcommittee

Gary Morrison (US Airways) presented an update and led a discussion on the next steps for smart graphics efforts.

 

Digital Electronic Library Systems (DELS) Subcommittee

Bernard Bouyt (Airbus) and Mark Andrews (United) presented the data model developed and used by Cathay Pacific.  This was followed by a discussion on next steps.

 

Media & Peripheral Devices Subcommittee

Kurt Sand (DCS Corporation) made a presentation on coupling CBT with simulation.

 

CMI Subcommittee (continued)

Jack Hyde (FlightSafety-Boeing) made a presentation on sequencing and logic using the AICC CMI Guidelines.  He also led a discussion on adding configuration control types to CMI course structure guidelines.
